This is how it assembles 

Using a standard 75mm sanding belt.

Choose a grit grade to suit the job.

Use it in a pedestal drill, or a portable drill
  

The Blowfly has a shaft on both ends, so when one side of the lobes becomes worn you simply end-for-end it in your drill chuck and you have a fresh surface to work with.

For very soft sanding use a fine grit belt and slit the lobes.
The more slits, the softer the sanding action - perfect for those jobs where you want the sander to conform to the shape of your work.

 
For polishing metal, plastic, wood, etc - load the BLOWFLY with abrasive scouring pad material - it is available in a variety of grades.
Cut the pieces to a size that suits your job. By experimenting with different grades, and lengths of the flaps you will find a combination to suit your work.
Another alternative:- use 6 pieces of leather - now charge it up with a polishing compound and you have an even finer polishing tool.
