Make a 'Camber Clip'

One of the unique applications of the WASP sander is to set it up for sanding large radius curves with an adjustable radius sanding guide - the CAMBER CLIP

For those large radius jobs such as for example a rocker for a rocking horse, or the back rest slats for a chair.

Toy-makers, boat builders, guitar makers etc. will find this facility very useful.

This CAMBER CLIP is a piece of springy sheet metal that is clipped onto your flat sanding plate and formed into a curve by pushing a wooden packer in behind it.

You can pack the CAMBER CLIP out with a shaped piece of wood, or some offcuts of plywood, or a piece of thin plywood and a dowel of a suitable size to get the desired radius.

You can purchase a kit of ACCESSORIES which comprises this CAMBER CLIP, together with three more sanding drums, but then some workshop enthusiasts with plenty of time may prefer to make their own, so here is how:-

All you need is a piece of ZINCALUME from your hardware shop, and some simple hand tools. Cut it to the size shown below and start bending. We suggest you bend the two 12mm folds first ( flatten them onto a steel rule or similar), Then form the second bends 38 mm away.
